Interview: Marie Claire Giraud

Have you ever found yourself revisiting a particular dream more than once?

Yes I have revisited the same theme in many dreams of success, of performing of being in front high dignitaries and being being in front of royalty.

In your opinion, what is an essential life experience that every individual should undergo at least once?

The essential life experience is answering the universal divine call of what you are meant to do in this life. For me that happened at a open mic night in New York City when I sang for the first time. The minute I touched the mic it’s like the whole stage melted away and there was no one else there but me and my maker telling me that this was my path and what I am meant to do.

– A significant dinner memory that stands out for me is when I had dinner with the painter Reggie Burrows Hodges, a black man alive and breathing with his paintings hanging in The Metropolitan Museum of Art. For me a girl from a small island in the Caribbean and raised in The Bronx this was huge for me to sit across from this man and seeing him acknowledged by the establishment and doing it on his own terms. Simply glorious .

Can you recount a challenging work experience that you consider to be the least enjoyable?

The last corporate job I held that I gave so much to. Did I enjoy my job yes I did but was this job my calling no. So I left and never looked back but I learned invaluable lessons which I am forever grateful for.

After being able to travel because of COVID and finally being able to visit my birth country of Dominica in the Caribbean.
